NCA 02 took over the running of The Centre from Thanet Council in July 2007. The very first job was to get it fit for purpose. The toilets needed refurbishing, we installed a disabled toilet, the kitchen and storeroom were turned into a state of the art DDA compliant kitchen, the other junk room was turned into an office/admin area with a phone and broadband connection and finally we decided to renew the windows with double glazed ones and also replace the soundroof dividing wall so that more activities could take place. A deep clean was also undertaken. We then had to start to find users as NCA is to be self sustaining and self financing. Although we were originally funded by £120,000 of SRB money this was unexpectedly reduced to £80,000 so a rethink was on the cards. The Wednesday bingo club and PALS were the only two users when we took over but since then we have attracted many diferent users to the Centre, run courses and events and hired The Centre out to Residents for celebratory occasions. Once we had completed the various jobs The Centre was formally opened by Steve Ladyman MP in June 2008.

Since then we have gone on to become a true Community Centre and all sorts of people have started using it. We also run various courses or have agencies who run them on our behalf, these are very successful and we are constantly looking to expand our range. If you have any ideas on what courses you would like to see please contact us with your ideas.
